Birthday Numero Uno!

Dear Sweet Bear-

This past weekend you turned ONE! It was fun, but at the same time so sad. I can't believe it went so fast. You're such a big kid now, we love every minute. You'll throw your head back and cackle like something (anything) was the funniest thing you've ever experienced. It makes your dad and I laugh so hard. You wear your expressions on your whole face, so when you're happy, it's clear as can be. Your personality is so big, it's fantastic. The Dr. actually called you opinionated at your yearly appointment. (What? That's crazy. I'm not sure where you get that from...)

Stats:
Weight: 22lbs
Length: 29"
Head: 99% (you've got your dad's big old noggin)
Diapers: Size 3
Clothes: 12-18 month
Hair: Getting longer and into your eyes. We've tried to clip it back a few times. That's gone over like gangbusters... *eye roll*
Eyes: We've finally decided they're hazel. It's taken a while but that's the verdict. Color-changing-chameleon eyes
Likes: Walking (everywhere), Dancing to music, eating big kid food (especially eggs, cheese, salmon and yogurt), the outdoors, swings, chasing Bailey (you call her bo-bo), eating socks and diaper wipes (yeah I know - minus 5 parent points)
Dislikes: anything in your hair, getting clean, getting buckled into the car seat
Sleep: Still rocking 12-13 hrs a night with 2 naps
Development: Walked at 11 months, 2 bottom teeth with the top 2 on their way, got the pincher grab thing down pat, and occasionally busts out a da-da, bo-bo or a mum
Current obstacles: Switching from a bottle to a cup and trying to move to one nap

Birthday weekend -
Friday night: Grandpa & Meme came over for dinner & cupcakes

Yay Cupcakes!!!
Saturday - We played outside because it was a beautiful 70 and sunny! Then we had some friends over to cookout and let the babies play. I have no pictures because there were a lot of babies. Which require a lot of watching..

Waiting on my friends to come play
Sunday - another beautiful day so we decided to take full advantage and go to the zoo! We bought a yearly pass so we can spend some time outside and learn some animals. The Knoxville zoo is pretty fabulous and they have a new giraffe exhibit where you can get close and watch them eat!

Dad & M checking out the giraffe
Then we headed over to my parents house for dinner. They knew we weren't doing an all out birthday party so Grandpa decided to do a little decorating -

Grams made carrot cake cupcakes and they were a huge success :) You're no stranger to food!

You also got a swing that we promptly hung in the backyard. Your squeals were fantastic! Definitely a winning present.

Overall it was a fantastic weekend! Can't wait to see how the next year unfolds!
