In the hospital recovery room
Eating & The Boobs
She took to eating immediately (in the recovery room at the hospital) and I got through the first 2 weeks, which are supposed to be the worst. One of my biggest fears was that it would be hard/impossible/torture/other painful words to breastfeed. I was prepared for that. I told myself I would call the La Leche league and have them come to my house to help if necessary (even though I know deep down I would have talked myself out of this. I hate calling people). This is only a little ironic considering I did skip the breastfeeding class (and every other class they offered). I did however read a book, which is more my learning style, and it helped a lot. But most of it can be attributed to M - she is truly my kid in that she loves to eat.
C-Section Recovery
Recovery from the C-section has been slow, but I'm getting there. The first week was rough. I had to have N and my mom help me do pretty much everything, from the basics like getting out of a chair and sitting up in bed. If I turned too quickly or tried to do too much on my own: shooting pains. N has been awesome, from changing lots of poopy diapers to cleaning the house and making dinner. I spent many hours planted in the rocking chair, which N & Dad moved to the living room so I could at least be around people and watch TV. The good news is, it's gotten a LOT better. Yesterday we went for a walk and only Bailey was exhausted. Today I've been up, cleaning and moving around without feeling like I needed to take a nap.
Sleeping
M is also a good sleeper. She's not pulling any 6 hr stretches yet but she does solid 3's through the night, which is fine with me. The 9th month of pregnancy pretty much prepares you for being up constantly (because you have to pee every 30 seconds and there is no position on the planet that is comfortable when you're sharing space with a full grown child). It hasn't been too terrible. N gets up, changes her, and brings her to me while he goes back to sleep. Then I'll feed her, burp her, and take her back to her crib (yes she's slept in her crib, in her room, since day one. I highly recommend it, for your sanity.)
And so far, I've only been pooped on once. So far.
