Transformation Tuesday

It's time for what has become a trend on Facebook - Transformation Tuesday.
This is also a follow up to the previous "Weight Issue" post.

Rewind
I worked out with Dunstan at Johnny Long's Training Academy while I was pregnant, 2 mornings a week, until I physically couldn't do it anymore. He kept me moving and doing exercises that were good for me. It helped keep my sanity and keep me healthy. I always knew I'd go back after M was older and I was cleared to workout. His workouts are challenging, yet fun, and I know they work.

One Saturday morning at the end of May, I went back to JLTA to workout with D. He asked how I was feeling and I replied honestly - fat. He laughed and told me that instead of just working out with him, he wanted me to meet with his wife Andrea and do a nutrition consult. I was already contemplating doing that and was going to ask him for advice, so I decided to jump in with both feet and get it done.

June
I opted for a 3 month program with Andrea, meeting every 2 weeks, to track my progress and talk about nutrition. She set up my MyFitnessPal account with the numbers calculated for me - based on age, weight, height, goals, etc. I got a starter grocery list, some recipes, and after an hour of talking, was excited to start this new eating plan.

I hit the grocery store hard and after a good hour of shopping, I was totally exhausted, and yet pumped to begin.

One of the biggest things for me is getting enough calories and getting them in the right way. Counting calories on the app is necessary. I have to see what I've done for the day. I look at the pie chart to help me make the next food decision. The biggest change (after the actual calorie goal) was cutting out added sugars and crappy carbs. Andrea teaches you what to look for and you actually start reading nutrition labels.

I also started working out in the mornings again - @ 6am. Crazy you say? I figured since I'm used to running on very little sleep, I may as well continue the trend. Also, I don't like going after work because I miss valuable M time. So, as I tell myself - when you want something bad enough you find a way. This is my way.

Fast forward to today -
I've been following the the healthy eating plan pretty strictly. I mean, I gave up flavored creamer in my coffee at the same time they come out with a Thin Mint flavored creamer. That's dedication.

I have gone through a LOT of powdered peanut butter, tubs of Greek yogurt and cottage cheese, serious amounts of fresh fruits and veggies, and a whole farms' worth of eggs. I have eaten more calories of good food than I can count.  I drink a LOT of water.

And it's working.

I've been debating putting up pictures. But I'm going to do it. Afterall, this is Transformation Tuesday.

If you're in Knox and need a swift kick in the fitness/nutrition arse to get yourself back to a healthier you - you seriously need to check out DNA Performance Nutrition - AKA Dunstan & Andrea - they are awesome. 1. You are so ahead of the game. Doing this when you are young, before you've developed All The Bad Habits. You are wise and there is still hope for you. Cause really - you've seen my thighs - you know what can happen.
