What is it about FALL that is so fan-freaking-tastic? Maybe the weather, but it's still pretty dang warm here, so maybe not... Pumpkin Spice Lattes? No. Definitely not that. But there's something... different. The color of the sun is a little brighter in the clear blue sky. Birds are everywhere, leaves are falling and crunching under your feet and the mountains become a beautiful multi-colored array of reds and oranges. People are out enjoying every sunny day because they know winter is just around the corner. Maybe it's a combo of all of this.
Whatever it is, I love it. This year is even better than before because little M is so damn fun. She's able to enjoy so much about this time of year, it's taking me back to my childhood. Stomping through leaves, watching the birds fly South, gleefully pointing out all the pumpkins. It's amazing and so innocent.
One fall morning, M was excited to see the cows up in the field across the street (they aren't usually in this particular field so close to us) and it was already pretty warm so we ventured into the yard for some morning fun. The light was beautiful so I grabbed the camera and we did some make-shift-pretending-to-be-photographers. Bailey was chased, sticks were gathered, cows and passers-by were waved to. Memories were captured. And I remembered to upload them.
Recently, M has discovered the joy of seeing herself in the camera, so we're taking a lot of forward facing selfies. Her smile lights up our day and I can't seem to take enough of these! Also - look at those teeth!
I know a lot of people hate on winter and thus dislike fall because they know what's around the corner - it's dark early, it's cold, you're stuck inside because you don't like said cold, etc. I don't. In fact, I love winter just as much as all the other seasons (Except you Fall, you're my favorite). I'm looking forward to cooler months (read: warm clothes and coffee all day long), family holidays, and watching M continue to grow and experience all of these amazing things that I love.
It's refreshing to relive things through the eyes of a little person. If you haven't done so lately, take a breather and do it. If you need to borrow a little person, just make sure you ask permission first. Walk through the leaves, carve pumpkins, watch birds and just remember what life is all about.
