Whew. I had to take a break from finishing out this series.
Honestly just reliving this is so exhausting, it makes my brain and heart hurt, and I have come to realize I've clearly blocked out a lot of the details.
It's been 6 weeks since we've been home, you are a happy healthy crazy 2 year old.
Let me try to finish this out though before I forget it all.
Friday-
We got the good news! You had done so well that you were being moved out of ICU and down to the general floor. Around lunch time we were discharged from the ICU and moved to your new room. You had to spend 24 hours here to make sure you were totally okay without the oxygen.
We were able to remove your pulse ox and only put it on for spot checking or while you were sleeping, so you had lots of mobility! AND A BATH!!! (Woo you were a little stinky, it'd been a week!)
| The next 24 hours were pretty much a waiting game. You wanted to play, get out of the room and be your sociable self. This floor had a few toy rooms, so we found a few babies and a car that you could ride in and did lots of laps, waving at anyone who would cross your path. |
Doctors make rounds on Saturdays. They do. But I swear they play a round of golf, go out for brunch, or wash their cars (kidding, someone else does that for them OBVIOUSLY) before they come in.
It was probably 11:30 before our doctor showed up. He gave us the all clear, a list of drugs and instructions approximately War & Peace long and as overwhelming as a Western Civ open ended final, and told us to follow up with him in 2 weeks.
We were DONE.
CLEAR TO GO.
Pack your bags we're getting outta this hotel!
The good news - Marin's 2 week follow up showed great improvement. The spots were gone from her lungs and she's back to her old self. She does have to do a maintenance inhaler at night before bed for a bit to help the inflammation in her airways go down, but otherwise she's crazy 2 as usual.
