The Good Stuff

So that I remember what I have loved using so far with M, I've made a list. In case I'm crazy enough to decide to do this again. (I'm sure that decision will be made spontaneously in a few years, after imbibing in some boxed wine, and forgetting how much I did not love being pregnant).

Part 1 (Cause I'm sure there will be a part 2)

**Updated 1/15

The Good Stuff
Car Seat (Chicco Key Fit) - Easiest to install due to the leveling bubble on the base. It got a 9.5 out of 10 on the safety rating, for those of you who are into the numbers (the Graco SnugRide & Britax B-Safe got 10's). We picked the Chicco because it's easy to install and the car seat itself wasn't super heavy.

Crib (Babyletto Mercer) - This crib is standard size but not overwhelming. It's a bit shorter than most cribs, but I like that. It fits nicely in our small nursery and it has the extra storage drawer underneath. We ordered ours off Amazon.

Diapers - PAMPERS, PAMPERS, PAMPERS (Swaddlers)!!! Seriously, don't waste your time with any other brand for a newborn.  We tried Huggies cause they had the cute little cut out for the belly button and we had a few boxes that were given to us. I shit you not, she blew out every single flipping one of them. (Pun intended). They may be a little cheaper in the store, but you'll wind up spending that $1 you saved in laundry detergent because you have to change your child's clothes with every diaper. Also, Pampers are softer where Huggies feel more plastic-y.
**Pampers are awesome. However. We switched to the Target brand after about 6 months and haven't looked back. They are way cheaper and they do a fantastic job of keeping things IN.

Baby Gloves - Newborns scratch their faces. They go for their eyes, nose, cheeks, lips, ears, ALL OF IT. They can't control their hands, so they just flail around, and those little nails are SHARP. Most newborn outfits have handy little mittens built into the sleeves, but if you're like us and outgrow the newborn stuff before they learn hand control, you'll need to invest in a bunch of these.

Breast Pump - (Medela Pump in Style). This sucker (haha) is handy! It only takes about 10 minutes to pump and it comes in a convenient bag so I can take it to work when I have to go back.

Medela Calma Bottle Nipple - This is awesome for moms who are going back and forth between the boob & the bottle. It prevents the tummy aches.
**She tried this a few times and didn't like it. We ended up using the classic Avent bottles.

Rock N Play Sleeper - This thing is worth it's weight in gold. It keeps her elevated slightly so we can put her in it after feeding (no spitting up), its snug enough that she feels comfortable, it's portable (folding flat to fit easily in your trunk) and easy to rock with one foot.

Wubbanubs - aka Ducky - She didn't love the pacifiers at first, but after about 3 weeks it became our new best friend. She got to the point where she wasn't hungry but needed to be soothed, and this pacifier + stuffed animal is perfect. She loves to hold on to the duck and it makes it harder for her to lose it accidentally.
**This became a toy once she found her thumb.

Video Monitor - Helps with the whole "sleeping in her room from day 1" thing.

Everything Aden + Anais - Especially their muslin swaddle blankets and bibs. This stuff is so soft and lightweight, yet keeps her warm. The swaddle blankets are the best I've found. Don't waste your time/money on the other swaddlers.
**Upgrade to the bamboo swaddle blankets. You won't regret that either. M sleeps with hers now as her comfort objects.

California Baby Products - These are all natural and smell great. The calming bubble bath does what it claims. I look forward to bath days because I know how relaxed she gets after some time in these awesome aromas. It's also great on her sensitive skin.
** Or whatever is on sale :)

Boppy Pillow - For nursing and extended periods of having to hold her, when your arms are going numb and you just need some support underneath you. Also helpful for monitored tummy time.

I'm sure there are more, but I'm tapped out and Ellen is dancing to Thrift Shop so I've been distracted. Now I need to go dance in my living room.
