Problems -
1. Wonky ass driveway location (off the neighbors driveway, not by our mailbox, making pizza delivery damn near impossible)
2. Stupid back door to the pantry
3. Scary looking back steps
So, we decided to move the driveway. Sounds easy enough...
Step 1 - Rent a bobcat from a friend for cheap.
Step 2 - Rip up the asphalt, make a new "semi driveway" out front.
Step 3- Accidentally pop the tires on said bobcat. Go hard or go home right?

Are you beginning to understand why I wasn't so excited about moving in? It was a friggin' nightmare.
When we updated the windows, we made some changes to the back of the house... Removed the weird ass back door that opened into the pantry and took the dining room windows and put in a french door.
And then, cause we're ambitious as shit, why not add a deck?!

Even more ambitious - we decided to build a bench down one side of the deck, cause we wanted lots of seating for parties.

Once the deck was done, we paid an excavator to come out and level out the old driveway

All of this took about 3 weekends...
Cost breakdowns:
Bobcat rental - $65 (plus a case of beer to apologize for the tires..)
Lumber & supplies - $1400
Excavating - $800
Burning that old rickety step contraption - PRICELESS

At the end of deck construction, the hubs stepped on a rusty wood screw so we got to take a trip to the ER! Whoop Whoop, who loves tetanus shots? We do!
